No. You may donate to a charity directly from your IRA through a qualified charitable distribution. If your RMD is $5,000 and you typically give $5,000 to charity each year, you can donate that money and not be taxed.

Yes. Pledges include a commitment to a specific amount and payment schedule. Pledges may be paid over a period of five years from the time of the commitment in annual, semiannual or quarterly installments. Pledge payments may be in the form of cash, credit or debit card charges or wire or securities transfers. Donors interested in making a five-year pledge should contact the development office in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. We can provide you with the forms to make your commitment to the School of Journalism.

An endowment is a managed investment that provides annual income to meet the current and future needs of students and faculty in the School of Journalism. You can establish an endowment with a gift of cash or stock or through a planned gift, then name the endowment in honor of an individual or organization. Endowments can also support faculty chairs, scholarships, programs or research. Through the investment with the University of Arizona Foundation, the endowment’s annual payout rate equals 4 percent. The minimum amount for an endowment is $25,000. Please contact the development office in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. We can provide you with the forms to set up an endowment for the School of Journalism.

Yes. Donating tangible personal property, such as camera equipment, audio gear, laptops and smart phones, is a popular and useful way to support the School of Journalism. Yes. Six percent of your philanthropic gift is allocated to support campus fundraising efforts. You can find details on the 6 percent fee here. The administrative fee is charged on all gifts of $1,000 or more.
