'Besieged Borders': Panel analyzes global crisis of refugees, migrants

Reporters Perla Trevizo of the Arizona Daily Star, Rod Nordland of The New York Times and University of Arizona journalism professor Mort Rosenblum assessed the global crisis of refugees and migrants during a Feb. 18, 2016, panel discussion in Tucson titled "Besieged Borders," presented by the school's Center for Border & Global Journalism.
The panel talked about the legalities and status of refugees versus migrants, what the push factors are behind people leaving their homeland, and how communities are affected by the influx of people from other countries who also need shelter, employment opportunities, and a place to call home.
