New dual M.A. in Bilingual Journalism/Latin American Studies offered
Students can now get a dual master's degree in Bilingual Journalism and Latin American Studies, University of Arizona School of Journalism Professor Jessica Retis has announced.
Retis, director of the school's Bilingual Journalism program, said the new dual-degree will serve students who want an immersive experience in bilingual global journalism — and who plan on working as professional journalists and/or researchers in Latin America or covering Latino issues in the United States.
"This program provides the basic bilingual and multimedia skills and knowledge needed to understand bilingual journalism as practiced in the United States, amplified by a greater understanding of the issues affecting Latin America today," Retis said.
"Graduates will acquire a robust set of skills in both Spanish and English that will translate into a significant competitive edge in the professional and academic workplace."
